Starting Before It’s Perfect: Why I Chose to Launch My CPA Practice Now

A thoughtful approach to building a modern, client-focused CPA practice from day one.
Over the past few days, I’ve officially shared that my firm is now live as a solo practice while I finalize the remaining administrative steps of full PLLC formation.
And if I’m being honest, launching at this stage wasn’t about rushing — it was about intention.
There’s a common belief that everything has to be perfectly finalized before you begin.
Perfect systems. Perfect timing. Perfect structure.
But in professional services, especially in accounting and advisory, what matters most isn’t perfection — it’s preparedness, integrity, and the ability to serve clients thoughtfully from day one.
That foundation has been years in the making.

As a CPA with a background spanning auditing and advisory, I didn’t arrive at this moment overnight. This firm is not a sudden shift, but a deliberate evolution of experience, planning, and a clear vision for how I want clients to be supported: with clarity, responsiveness, and a calm, modern approach to financial guidance.
Launching as a solo practice during this phase allows me to do something that larger firms often cannot — provide highly attentive, collaborative service from the very beginning.
Every client interaction, every engagement, and every recommendation is handled directly, with care, and professional judgment at the forefront.
For new clients, this also means something important:
You are not just another file in a queue.
You are working directly with the professional responsible for your work, your strategy, and your outcomes.
Transparency is also a core value of how I operate. While my PLLC formation is in progress, my services, standards, and ethical responsibilities as a licensed CPA remain the same. Compliance, confidentiality, and professional diligence are non-negotiable — regardless of stage in the process.
In many ways, this early phase is one of the strongest times to work with a firm.
Systems are intentionally designed.
Client relationships are built thoughtfully.
And service quality is never diluted by volume.
Rather than waiting for a “perfect” milestone, I chose to begin serving clients when I knew the infrastructure, processes, and professional readiness were fully in place to support them properly.
Because ultimately, building a firm isn’t about appearing established. It’s about operating with consistency, professionalism, and long-term trust from the very start.
This is just the beginning of Hughes CPA Services, and I’m grateful for the support, interest, and trust shown during these early days.
If you’ve recently visited the site, reached out, or are considering working together — welcome.
I look forward to building something thoughtful, reliable, and client-centered in the years ahead.
